Pakistan sent message of goodwill by opening the Kartarpur corridor

MULTAN (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday said that Pakistan sent message of goodwill by opening the Kartarpur corridor which would decrease tension between nuclear-arch rivals.

Talking to media in Multan on Sunday, he said that the decision was taken to facilitate the Sikh pilgrims to visit one of their holiest places, adding that the goodwill gesture of Pakistan has been appreciated in the whole world.

The foreign minister said that Rs10 million bounty on Navjot Singh Sidhu s head is regrettable, adding that the former Indian cricket star tried to resolve an old issue.

To a question, Qureshi said that the reports of changing the portfolios of minister were rumours.

He went on to say that when the PTI came to power, economic situation was dire and financial and trade deficits had reached at a staggering level. However, Finance Minister Asad Umar took the bull by the horns and made corrective measures to manage the finances.

“Readjustment in currency valuation will have a positive impact on our exports,” he said and added many economic experts were of the same opinion that devaluation of rupee will help increasing exports by staying in competition at international level.

The minister said that the rupee will become stable once the economic conditions are improved.

Qureshi further said: “Pakistan is committed to an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process in Afghanistan and will continue to play a positive role in bringing peace and stability in the neighboring country.”
